Early detection is key in the treatment of kidney, liver, and heart disease in dogs and cats. Dentistry (Back to Top) Keeping your pets mouth free of infection is one of the single most important things you can do to prolong your pets life. Blood Pressure (Back to Top) Our blood pressure monitor is a safe and easy way to take your pet’s blood pressure. Blood pressure readings help us to monitor your pet while he or she is under anesthesia. This device is also used in our geriatric feline patients to identify high blood pressure which can be associated with blindness and kidney failure. Preventative Health Care (Back to Top) Annual Wellness Exams, Vaccination Programs, Flea Control, Tick Control, Heartworm Prevention Nutritional Counseling (Back to Top) We carry Hills Science Diet, Prescription Eukanuba and Purina. We have a CDC and an Idexx VetTest 8008 to better serve your pet, especially when speed is important to putting them on the road to recovery. Pets undergoing anesthesia receive a pre-anesthesia blood screening. This screening can detect several problems that cannot be found on a routine physical exam. It also helps prevent difficulties that may arise during surgery. We want your pet to have a safe and speedy recovery from anesthesia. Ultrasound (Back to Top) Diagnostic ultrasound is a non-invasive way to diagnose many diseases of the abdomen (liver, kidneys, spleen, urinary bladder, et). We also use the ultrasound extensively in cardiology work-ups (called an echocardiogram). Pain Management (Back to Top) Is your pet suffering from acute or chronic pain? We can help. We carry several products, including Chondroitin / Glucosamine, Durlactin and Surgical Services CO2 Laser (Back to Top) We have a CO2 Laser for use during surgical procedures. Sevoflourane Anesthesia (Back to Top) All surgery patients at Heartland Animal Hospital are anesthetized using an anesthetic called Sevoflourane. This is considered by most anesthesiologists to be the safest anesthetic agent available. In fact, it is used in many human hospitals. We use Sevoflourane for the safety of your pet. All patients are monitored during surgery for pulse and respiration. These technologies along with pre-anesthetic screening, reduce the risk of anesthesia to its lowest level. In addition, your pet will receive an analgesic injection to minimize any pain that might be experienced post-surgery.
